Nowadays in Colombia there are 9 schools with training in oncology , mainly concentrated in Bogotá (Capital District of Colombia ), followed by Cali ( capital of the department of Valle del Cauca ) and finally in Medellín (Antioquía).

En Colombia al año 2015 existen 9 centros educativos con formación en Oncología, concentrados principalmente en Bogotá (Distrito Capital de Colombia), seguido de Cali ( capital del departamento de valle del cauca) y por ultimo en Medellín (Antioquía)

En Colombia de las 9 universidades que ofrecen programas de especialización en oncología , solo 2 universidades tienen programas para enfermeras que deseen ser especialistas en oncología.-La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana en Bogotá , ofrece a las enfermeras la posibilidad de hacer maestría en enfermería oncológica-La universidad de Antioquía ofrece en sus posgrados la especialización en enfermería oncológica.

- Only two of the nine universities offering programs of specialization in Oncology in Colombia are the ones that have the programs for those nurses that want to be specialized in Oncology.

- La Pontificía Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, offers nurses the possibility of doing a master in oncology nursing.

Según el Registro Especial de Prestadores de Servicios de Salud, de los 2.222 servicios médicos relacionados con el cáncer en el país, solo 710 están certificados por alguna autoridad de salud.

En el país no hay más de 200 médicos oncólogos y hematólogos, y de manera sorprendente existen 938 lugares donde se ofrecen estos servicios.

“Esa cantidad no la tiene ni Estados Unidos con una población de 200 millones de habitantes” dice Raúl Murillo, director del Instituto Nacional de Cancerología.

El Ministerio de Salud con el Instituto de Cancerología comenzó en octubre pasado a verificar que las nuevas solicitudes que hacen las IPS para prestar servicios oncológicos cumplan las condiciones técnicas y científicas.

En una presentación hecha en noviembre pasado, quienes participaron en la revisión contaron que de 187 solicitudes de IPS para prestar estos servicios, solo una cumplía con la norma.

The Ministry of Health with the Institute of Cancer began in October 2013 verifying that the new requests that make the IPS (to provide oncology services) achieve the technical and scientific conditions.
